Designed and led Origin's knowledge strategy consulting service. Designed service offering, developed methods for alignment of services and organization with business strategy, and led management team in developing and deploying knowledge strategy.
 

Led usability evaluation and concept design for Cincinnati Bell corporate site, using formal and informal evaluation approaches to test user experience of public website. Developed navigation model and organized content scheme with alternative graphical schemes for redesign and evaluation. Evaluated revised site models and proposed a revised interaction design, used in current transition sites.

Information product design and user interface research for large-scale Internet projects. Lead designer for breakthrough Web-based legal information products for Web-based legal research platform. Coordinated and designed product user interfaces from concept through release for advanced citation research and new search products.

Information architect and user interface designer for ScienceDirect, Elsevier Science’s Web product for online scientific journal publication. Planned and conducted market-focused customer research, including scenario planning, focus groups and usability studies in North America and Europe. Developed prototypes and designed user interface for ScienceDirect, and evaluated at customer locations in usability and alpha testing. Integrated results and customer research process into product design process.

Designed and evaluated user interfaces for other LexisNexis products, including coordination of major user interface efforts in legal and news products. Planned and conducted concept design studies for new products, and served as concept design lead for group.
TASC - The Analytic Sciences Corporation

Developed and facilitated Joint Application Design (JAD) workshops for government and commercial development projects for custom information system solutions, and for defining new business process models. Designed strategic software development and project management lifecycle methodologies for commercial product organizations. Designed process and lifecycle models to integrate multiple business processes into coordinated strategy, and adapted the new methodology to project management tools. Resulted in institution of long-term corporate methodology used for all new product development.

Designed usability evaluation strategy for automobile manufacturer service product (online service information, diagnosis, and bulletins), including user interface design consulting and integration of evaluation feedback into product design. Resulted in significant interface redesign.

Developed and delivered software engineering training programs for Reynolds and Reynolds, including courses in Systems Analysis and Information Modeling, Software Design Methods, and Joint Application Design Facilitation training. Resulted in training of over 150 software engineers in current methods.

Systems analysis leader for large-scale development and integration efforts, including Ohio EPA, US Air Force, and other government and commercial projects. Coordinated team for requirements and systems analysis, developed CASE models, using System Architect and Bachman. Delivered JAD workshops, involving EPA/TASC team in process and system design.

Systems Consultant at AT&T Communications, Cincinnati
 
Systems consultant, design lead, and knowledge engineer for knowledge-based systems (KBS) development team. Managed, developed, and delivered expert advisory systems and prototypes for AT&T network services user groups. Performed knowledge engineering, identifying and interviewing AT&T experts, and developed rule sets for expert system (TGNA system). Planned development and integration of KBS systems with existing large-scale databases and transaction processing systems. Prepared KBS specifications and coded prototypes using shell and language tools. Managed transfer of technology to user environment, successfully encouraged acceptance with users, and provided training and documentation for knowledge systems.

Developed methodologies for KBS development for large-scale and PC-based integrated systems. Managed and developed training program and path for knowledge engineering and AI programming (OPS5, Nexpert, TI) for AT&T Network Systems Division.

Provided technical consultation, research, and evaluation of expert system tools and methods for AI projects. Investigated numerous expert system shells and languages through research and use, and made recommendations for strategic software acquisition. Evaluated fourth-generation language (4GL) and CASE tools for use in development and analysis by AT&T Systems Engineering. Evaluated and compared the Sun OPEN LOOK graphical user interface for UNIX with AT&T corporate standards group. Assisted corporate effort in interface design standards.
