World Usability Day

Events Planned Around the World Will Showcase "Making It Easy"

World Usability Day is for all the people who think that the things around them should work better. This worldwide series of events, organized by The Usability Professionals' Association, will promote awareness of the benefits of usability engineering and user-centered design, Earth Day style. Events are planned in more than 70 cities in 35 countries. In Dayton, we are planning a regional Cincinnati-Dayton networking event with posters and demosfrom product companies and research labs. (See the next post for details).

The types of events being planned include:

· Participation by cabinet-level leaders in Italy, and many other important government officials around the world.

· An event at the Boston Museum of Science, featuring hands-on usability testing exhibits for children, which will coincide with the opening of the Museum's new "Star Wars" exhibit.

· Twelve-year-old technology experts demonstrating usability issues on TV in New Zealand.

· Israeli usability experts going all over Israel with introductory presentations on usability in dozens of development organizations.

· Webcast conferences with well-known usability experts, most focused on accessibility for those with physical challenges, and on e-government.

· Several cities in India offering events that focus on advances in usability that are key drivers in India's economic development.
